We are currently seeking a Category Development Manager to be located in our Stamford Headquarters and will report to the Group Manager, Category & Shopper Solutions. The Sr. Manager - CSS works closely with the Channel Sales Team to: 1) provide effective category management strategies, recommendations, consumer insights and programs to the channel customers (efficient SKU assortment, shelf schematics, merchandising, pricing, profitable promotion analysis, loyalty card insights), and; 2) to monitor the effective execution of these category programs by the Channel Sales Team. In addition, the Category Manager will support the Channel Sales Team in development of customer plans, trade fund evaluation, business reviews, presentations and analysis as needed by the team and the customer.

Key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
o Business Analysis / Opportunities: Conduct / supervise business analysis and respond to category, customer, shopper and competitive industry trends to identify business building and category management opportunities for the channel customers. Examples of analyses include: 1) LRB (liquid refreshment beverage) category trends, 2) customer, consumer and shopper insights utilizing loyalty card data (Dunnhumby; Optura), 3) promotion effectiveness and profitability, 4) price gap analysis, 5) evaluating new item launches, etc.
o Category Management: Work closely with the Channel Sales Team and account personnel to develop a collaborative category management approach and go-to-market strategy, identify category management opportunities for NWNA and the customer and develop category reviews (as approved by the National Customer Team), programs and recommendations to present to the customer to collaboratively build category business. Oversee the national development of the planogram process.
o Tools, Applications and Knowledge Management: Manage category management tools to identify opportunities (space management, assortment, etc) and understand, comprehend and articulate syndicated data sources such as Nielsen (both consumption & Home Scan/panel data), IRI, Spectra and Dunnhumby/Optura data to deliver value back to the national retailer and NWNA. Should be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power point and Word and familiar with Access and DataAlchemy
o Customer Planning: Provide assistance to the Channel Sales Team in the analysis and development of Customer Plans and identify the need to incorporate category management and shopper insight opportunities into the Plans
o Presentations: Develop and articulate formal, effective presentations for internal use and with the channel customers
o Category Management Training: Communicate and train Channel Sales Team members on the NWNA category management process, principles and tools for effective planning, selling and execution of category management programs
o Industry Knowledge: Monitor research industry relative to category, customer & shopper developments
o Trade Fund Management (Where Applicable): Provide support to Channel Sales Team in evaluation of promotional effectiveness and profitability for NWNA and our customers
o Coordination / Communications: Proactively coordinate and communicate with the Channel Sales Team, other Category Managers and Analysts as well as with account personnel
o Category Management Scorecard: Maintain monthly Category Scorecard reports to identify
o opportunities and issues on current planograms and other areas
o Special Projects: Work on special projects as requested by the Channel Sales Team
Key qualifications for this position include:
o 4
years category management experience as a Category Analyst and/or Category Manager
o 2-3 years in category management, Sales, Marketing or Market Research at a beverage/CPG company or category management provider
o Bachelor Degree required
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Nielsen or IRI
o Ability to creatively develop new strategies, processes, practices and programs that will substantially enhance US Retail growth, profitability and operations
o In-depth knowledge of category management practices, and methodologies
o Proficiency on a variety of category management tools and syndicated data; the ability to learn new ones quickly
o Strong analytical, verbal, and presentation skills allowing in-depth understanding of customers, their needs, and category developments
o Selling and Negotiating skills to permit selling-in of category management solutions
o Self-starter. Creative inventor of new strategies, processes, practices and programs
o Business / financial management orientation. Ability to translate internal, category and channel insights into value-added information for the sales force.
o Travel requirement: 5-10%
