Job Description:
Stamford Hospital (located in Stamford, CT) is seeking an individual to join our team as a Staff Assistant within our Perinatology Department.
The primary role of this position is to provide support by performing clerical and administrative operations associated with a medical office.
This individual will perform general office functions (reception, scheduling of patients, filing, etc.
) ensuring that internal and external customers' needs are met and that effective and efficient operations are maintained.
Answer telephone, provides information to callers, routes calls as appropriate, take clear & concise messages and contacts appropriate staff in order to promote effective communications.
Maintains appointment books, schedules patients and doctors appointments to organize office visits and meetings ensuring adequate provider coverage and smooth patient flow and customer satisfaction.
Requests and verifies all demographic information as well as insurance information including authorization and precertification.
Sets up meetings as requested, arranging for appropriate equipment and refreshments as necessary.
Initiates follow-up calls as necessary and gathers information for meetings to assure a well-organized event.
Transcribes information from various mediums into written form, within established timeframes.
Provides memos, correspondence and other documents and disseminates information as appropriate.
Files documents in order to maintain complete records regarding patients and office operations.
May provide support for students/residents, completing on-call schedules, work schedules and coordinating educational seminars and other activities of residents.
Participate in the Medical Staff credentialing and re-credentialing procedure to ensure that all individuals with clinical privileges provide services within the scope of their training, licensure and individual privilege status.
Ensure that necessary documentation is provided within established timeframes, verifies licensure and malpractice as appropriate.
Performs duties as needed for patient registration and billing in absence of other staff Required Skills:
Required Skills:
High School diploma required A minimum of 2
years of experience as Administrative/Executive Assistant; preferably within a medical/healthcare setting.
Must be PC-proficient; MS software programs Exposure/experience with Medical terminology and physician billing practices.
Bilingual preferred Recommended Skills Administration Billing Clinical Works Communication Credentialing Customer Satisfaction Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
