The Overview
Digital development team lead and subject matter expert (SME) for application development. The
position
is within a development group chartered to develop guest and associate facing applications including mobile and social applications, customer care center applications, and super-critical e-commerce brand sites.
The development team lead is the technical product owner responsible for the overall health and quality of the code the team produces. The development team lead partners with the business relationship
manager
, architecture, and development staff to establish vision, strategy and road maps that align with business strategies and organizational priorities. The development team lead must collaborate with peers and leadership to leverage knowledge and solutions across the organization.
Multiple positions open, seeking experts in API's, call center console or desktop applications, digital platforms and service integration. Each development team lead will have a single focus.
The Responsibilities

The development team lead collaborates with the tech leads to assign staff to projects and enhancements and to ensure designs align with the strategic road map of the product. There may be multiple projects in-flight at a time. The development team lead works with
Tech leads to staff projects with associates, contractors, and/or third party teams
project managers on a plan and estimates
architecture and tech leads on solution blueprints
QA and tech leads on integration testing, performance testing, and to triage defects
Service introduction on hand-off to application operations team
The development team lead is responsible for the design and code reviews for all new work and changes in the product(s) they manage, ensuring alignment with the architectural strategy and the compliance with a high standard of quality, security, and performance.
Accountable to the Director, Digital Application Development for daily status on tech design, development, and resource management. Manages a team of direct reports including career and skill development, compliance and training, and scheduling. Direct reports and third party teams may be in remote location

& Skills
As a development team lead, the position requires specialized depth and breadth of expertise with mission-critical guest and associate facing web and mobile applications, interprets internal business issues, recommends best practices, solves complex problems, and takes a broad and strategic perspective to identify solutions.
Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus

years of experience in the software or technology industry in roles of growing responsibilities
The individual in this role is required to demonstrate sound architecture skills and broad experience designing applications
Experience producing solution designs for large-scale, highly available, mission-critical systems
Proficient in Java and object-oriented analysis, design, development and design patterns
Experience designing, creating and consuming Web
services
(REST, SOAP, JSON, OAuth) and multi-tier applications in Java (or other language)
Strong understanding of Internet protocols and technologies (HTTP, SSL, SMTP, UDP, TCP/IP)
Strategic thinking and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to combine broad technical, business and political factors
Experience in Agile, Waterfall and other software development methodologies
Strong foundational knowledge and experience with SOA, distributed systems, and computing systems in general
Preferred Education Masters of Science or Advanced degree in
computer
science, engineering or related field
Experience with front end web technologies (e.g. HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, AJAX) and libraries (e.g. JQuery, JQueryUI)
Communication Skills:
Able to communicate well with all levels in the organization, and must be comfortable as a primary contact to internal and external customers
Must be adept at influencing change/improvement in an organization
Strong interpersonal/relationship management skills
Ability to communicate complex technical design concepts and translate into non-technical business solutions
Excellent oral and written communication and documentation skills, strong technical diagramming skills required.
